Pallium India offers palliative care services to patients and families who are facing serious health challenges in Trivandrum district. We provide home care, telehealth, OPDs and In-patient facilities to meet their needs.
We understand that many of our patients come from a lower socio-economic background. When a chronic or life-limiting disease like cancer, spinal cord injury or kidney disease affects the family's main income earner, their income stops. The spouse cannot work as they have to take care of the patient. In such cases and others like elderly patients, those living alone or geographically isolated etc., the medical social workers conduct a socioeconomic assessment, and based on their recommendation Pallium India supports them with monthly food kits to ensure they do not go hungry. We currently distribute monthly food kits to 136 families in Trivandrum District.
Each food kit costs around 1000 rupees, depending on the patient's and their family's needs. Each food kit contains various lentils, chickpeas, oats, matta rice and other items based on the patient's requirements.
We believe this initiative will help them cope with their difficulties and improve their quality of life.
